Operating under Cappadocia University, the Slot Service Center (SHM) is structured to ensure the safe, orderly, and sustainable conduct of aerial sports activities such as hot-air ballooning and paragliding. As the only authorized center in Türkiye undertaking this mission, SHM serves as a pioneering institution that guides the implementation of air sports on the basis of public interest and flight safety.
The Center operates in regions where air tourism is particularly intensive, including Cappadocia, Soğanlı, Çat, Pamukkale, and Fethiye. Cappadocia is globally recognized as a major hub for hot-air ballooning, hosting flights that carry hundreds of passengers each day. Fethiye–Ölüdeniz, on the other hand, is one of Türkiye’s largest and most active paragliding sites in terms of both flight volume and annual visitor numbers.
Among SHM’s responsibilities are the collection of flight statistics, the performance of meteorological assessments, the implementation of flag protocols, the monitoring of slot rights, and the evaluation of takeoff suitability requests. All these processes are supported by SHM’s digital infrastructure, thereby maximizing operational efficiency and flight safety.
Through SHM, Cappadocia University not only transfers academic expertise into practical application but also positions itself as a unique institution assuming the roles of standardization, oversight, and coordination within Türkiye’s air-sports sector.
